With a degree in Business Administration and Management, Elvira Lopez de Lara Merida began her journey at MAPFRE Vida in Spain in 2009, focusing on the commercial sector. Over the years, she’s held roles in product development and led specialised life and health networks in Madrid.

“As Commercial Director and later Territory Director, I developed strategies that deepened customer engagement and business growth,” Ms Lopez de Lara Merida says. “Before moving to Malta, I served as Corporate Distribution Manager, enhancing distributor loyalty across Latin America.”

Ms Lopez de Lara Merida was selected for two consecutive years in Spain’s “40 under 40” ranking in the insurance sector, an award that recognises the 40 most promising professionals under the age of 40 for their leadership, impact, and contribution to the transformation of the insurance industry. This recognition highlights a strong commitment to the innovation, professional excellence and the development of the sector.

Now, she leads MAPFRE MSV Life as CEO, with a purpose-driven approach – placing people at the centre of her mission.
