“I have held various accounting positions with several medium-sized local companies,” Clive Caruana, a Certified Public Accountant and Registered Auditor, says.

Backed by the accomplishments achieved scholastically and professionally, in 2006, he moved to a reputable worldwide audit firm as an accountant, working closely with the Tax Partner and Corporate Services Director. At Grant Thornton (Malta), he was promoted to Corporate Services Manager, also heading Grant Thornton Fiduciaire Ltd’s team, gaining exposure on managing international corporate and private clients, in particular running corporate services, using and interpreting IFRSs as well as handling tax compliance, financial statements and structures and advisory.

This included the everyday application of Malta’s tax refund mechanism, the interpretation of double tax treaties and overseeing Maltese holding, financing, trading and shipping companies in the context of international tax structuring and VAT compliance and advisory.

In 2012, Mr Caruana, who has diplomas in taxation and banking, moved to a local law firm to head the tax compliance and accounts team and held such position for almost a year.
