Possessing a Master’s Degree in International Hospitality, in 2019, Charmaine Camilleri successfully completed a training programme at Cornell University, in New York,  specifically aimed for general managers in hospitality.

“My experience in the hospitality industry,” she explains, “spans over a career of 25 years, during which I worked my way up the career ladder.”

Ms Camilleri started building her experience at the Westin Dragonara Resort (part of Starwood Hotels) and then formed part of the team at Hilton Malta, where she embarked on a career path in sales and marketing.

“In 2011, I joined Mizzi Organisation as the Events and Marketing Manager for the Waterfront Hotel and was instrumental in launching the hotel’s outside catering arm – Seasons Events Caterers. I progressed to Hotel Manager and was promoted to General Manager for the hotel in 2019. I have overseen the €9 million refurbishment and extension project carried out at the Waterfront Hotel between 2016 and 2018,” Ms Camilleri asserts.

For a few years, she was the only female hotel general manager in Malta.
