A Maltese tattoo artist has made an unexpected appearance on the social media feed of international entrepreneur and author Simon Squibb, known for his viral videos where he stops strangers and asks them a simple yet powerful question: “What’s your dream?”

The video, shared across Mr Squibb’s platforms to his 17 million followers, features New York-based tattooist Steven Bugeja, who was approached while riding his scooter in the city.

When asked about his dream, Mr Bugeja didn’t hesitate: “Starting my new aftercare company, it’s going to be specifically for tattoos, and my dream is to make it one of the best.”

Mr Squibb, a Sunday Times Best Selling Author for his book "What's Your Dream?", helps people realise their ambitions and start their own businesses. Instantly slipping into mentor mode, he asked Mr Bugeja: “Has anyone ever taught you business?” Mr Bugeja replied: “I’m mostly self taught.”

That prompted Mr Squibb to offer some advice he wishes he had received himself: “Community is the new marketing hack. Have you got a community of people?”

With more than one million followers already across his social media channels, Mr Mr Bugeja certainly has the beginnings of one. But Mr Squibb pushed further: “I have 17 million followers on my social media. If 17 million people follow you, why should they care about this business? Give them a reason.”

The conversation continued with Mr Bugeja explaining his vision for an aftercare product for tattoo clients: “It’s not just going to be like a regular moisturiser. I want, like, more clinical ingredients inside of it just to make it better than what’s on the market.”

The exchange ended with Mr Squibb giving his trademark seal of approval: “Well done!”

The encounter has already garnered notable engagement online, with almost 8,000 likes, putting a spotlight on Mr Bugeja’s entrepreneurial ambitions – and marking another instance where a Maltese creative makes waves on the international stage.
