Welbee’s, a leading name in Malta’s retail industry, has announced a significant leadership change, with CEO Jonathan Shaw handing over the reins to Nicky Camilleri. After overseeing the company’s growth from a merger of four supermarket brands to the successful entity it is today, Mr Shaw is stepping aside for new challenges, while staying on as a strategic advisor.

Reflecting on his tenure, Mr Shaw noted that Welbee’s rapid development – from eight stores to a robust supermarket brand – was driven by a shared vision of the original owners and management. “In just 1,300 days, we built a strong structure that guarantees governance, traceability, and transparency,” he said, crediting the team for the brand's success.

Mr Camilleri, who brings 20 years of experience in leadership and corporate finance, is enthusiastic about leading Welbee’s through its next phase of growth. “My strategy will focus on growth and fine-tuning operations to enhance shareholder value,” he commented, emphasising a commitment to both continuity and innovation.

The leadership transition, described as “seamless” by both Mr Shaw and Mr Camilleri, involved months of job-shadowing to ensure operational stability. Welbee’s, which now operates 10 outlets and employs over 500 people, remains committed to its core values of balancing stakeholder, customer, and supplier needs.

Mr Shaw leaves behind a legacy of growth, with the brand having opened two new stores since its formation, while Mr Camilleri looks to build on this foundation and guide Welbee’s towards even greater success.
