Lawyer Vanessa Grech has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Court Services Agency, taking over from Eunice Grech Fiorini, who will now serve as Director of the Asset Recovery Bureau.

Both appointments will come into effect on 24th March 2025.

Dr Grech, who joined the public service in August 1998 as a court clerk, has steadily risen through the ranks of the judiciary system. Over the years, she has held several key roles, including Director of Legal Services, Court Legal Consultant, and Registrar at the Civil and Tribunal Courts. For the past four years, she has also served as Deputy CEO of the Court Services Agency.

In a statement, the Ministry for Justice and the Reform of the Construction Sector praised Dr Grech’s long-standing dedication to the justice sector, noting that she has worked in almost every section of the Maltese courts.

Justice Minister Jonathan Attard congratulated Dr Grech on her appointment, describing the role as an important one at a time of significant reform in the justice sector aimed at ensuring a more effective and efficient system. He thanked her for her continued commitment and expressed confidence in her ability to strengthen the agency, which today employs the largest number of staff in its history.

Outgoing CEO Eunice Grech Fiorini will now take the helm of the Asset Recovery Bureau, succeeding Anthony Sevasta. In recent years, she also served as Deputy Chairperson of the Bureau, in addition to leading the Court Services Agency.
