Valletta's Wagyu Bar and Kitchen has taken its offerings to new levels of luxury, launching Malta’s first gold-encrusted sushi roll.
The Golden Dragon Roll, launched on Sunday evening, consists of ikura (salmon roe), tempura prawns, truffle-infused nori, king crab, avocado, smoked eel, and, of course, 18 karat gold flakes.
The invention is the product of renowned local chef Daniel Grech, who said Wagyu “always loves to be innovative,” and is “proud to have it first on the rock.”
Wagyu is a relatively young restaurant, having opened its doors in Valletta in 13th November 2020, but has already gained a strong following for its specialist Japanese food.
Mr Grech is known across Malta for his recipes and specialises in burgers and pancakes.
He also owns the successful Shoreditch Bar and Kitchen in St. Julians.
