Law firm Valletta Legal has announced the “sudden passing” of Tanya Sciberras Camilleri, a “powerhouse” lawyer who co-founded the practice.

The Valletta-based firm said she was “a credit to the profession, a mentor to many over the years, and an irreplaceable leader” to the team.

Dr Sciberras Camilleri was an experienced litigator in the Courts of Malta, with 30 years of experience under her belt. She was an expert in several legal fields, including family law, property law and commercial drafting.

She was also a specialist in planning law, not only representing clients before the Planning Authority and the Environment and Planning Review Tribunal, but also being appointed to the Planning Board as an independent member for several years. She later served as Chairperson of the Planning Appeals Board for six years.

Additionally, she was appointed by the Government to various boards of inquiry and held roles as a member of the Social Work Professions Board and the Commission for the Advancement of Women.

“Valletta Legal will not be the same without her. She’s inconsolably missed,” said the firm.

The Chamber of Advocates also paid its respects, describing Dr Sciberras Camilleri as “a dedicated legal professional” with “profound contributions to the field.”

“Her passing leaves a significant void in our community.”
