The Melita Foundation has announced that it is supporting The Wellness Pod, an initiative organised by The Karl Vella Foundation with the aim of offering children a sense of continuity during difficult times.

The Wellness Pod offers six diverse programmes for children of different ages, backgrounds and needs, that are dealing with the loss or serious illness of a family member.

“The Karl Vella Foundation really does amazing work, helping children agreed from five to 17 to come to terms with the difficult situations that arise when a family member becomes seriously ill or passes away,” Chair of The Melita Foundation Professor Tanya Sammut-Bonnici said.

She added: “The Melita Foundation is committed to supporting young people achieve their full potential and these support services for those who are facing particular circumstances are vital to ensure these children go on to make the most of life.”

Established in 2014, The Karl Vella Foundation offers free educational and psychological support to children that are either dealing with illness or loss within their family.

The foundation’s support includes one-to-one therapy as well as group programmes that help children interact with others.

Since its opening, the foundation has “helped more than 200 children.”
