Gozo Minister Clint Camilleri has confirmed that Gozo Channel’s total fuel expenditure reached €6.05 million in 2024.
Speaking during a parliamentary session on 14th October 2025 (yesterday), Minister Camilleri revealed that between January and 30th August 2025, fuel costs for the company have already totalled €3.7 million.
The figures were provided in response to a parliamentary question raised by MP Ivan Bartolo.
According to data published by the National Statistics Office (NSO), between October and December 2024, a total of 1.66 million passengers travelled between Malta and Gozo. Of these, approximately 85 per cent (1.4 million passengers) made the trip via Gozo Channel. There were approximately 4,530 round trips in the fourth quarter of 2024.
Similar figures were recorded in the first quarter of 2025, when a total of 1.53 million passengers travelled between Malta and Gozo. Of these, 86 per cent, or approximately 1.31 million passengers, made the crossing via Gozo Channel.
