The Brewhouse and Trident Park project has received The International Architecture Award® for 2024 by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture, Art, Design and Urban Studies. The project was entered in the Mixed Use Category.

Now in its 19th year, The International Architectural Awards are the oldest and most prestigious distinguished global building awards program that honours new and cutting-edge design worldwide.

This annual program, organised by both institutions, also promotes international architecture and design to a worldwide public audience and is supported by the new online magazine Global Design News.

This year, the Museum received a record number of projects for new buildings, landscape architecture, and urban planning from the most important international firms practicing globally.

An international jury composed of several distinguished designers worked remotely and selected almost 190 submissions from a shortlist of over 850 projects.

A full list of winning projects for 2024 can be viewed soon at our Museum's websites at www.chi-athenaeum.org and www.internationalarchitectureawards.com or at www.europeanarch.eu.

The project will be included in a special exhibition “The City and the World” at the inauguration of the newly expanded Contemporary Space Athens starting on Friday, 20th September 2024. The official Awards Gala Reception and Awards Ceremony will be held on Saturday, 21st September 2024.

“It is a great honour and especially rewarding to be recognised among so many other international quality developments. Our collection of awards has now certainly continued to gather apace,” commented Michael Farrugia, Director of both Simonds Farsons Cisk plc and Trident Estates plc, as well as deputy CEO of the Farsons beverage business, on this latest award.

Winner of over 10 national and international awards since its inauguration in June 2023, the €86 million Farsons Brewery regeneration project has seen one of Malta’s finest 20th-century industrial buildings transformed into a vibrant green office campus and world-class business destination.

The project was spearheaded by London-based ritchie*studio, led by renowned architect Ian Ritchie, in collaboration with Prof. Alex Torpiano's engineering-focused Maltese practice TBA Periti, and celebrated environmental physicist Doug King.
