Airing this afternoon at 4pm, Italy’s ambassador to Malta, Mario Sammartino, will be interviewed by presenter and business-writer Jo Caruana on a range of pressing issues impacting both nations.
Italy was tragically one of the first European nations to be deeply impacted by the COVID, while Mr Sammartino explains how the country is adjusting to the so-called ‘new normal’.
Trade between Malta and Italy is substantial - from food to fuel, ships and cars, furniture, electronic equipment, and so much more. In light of this, the ambassador will discuss trade affected by the pandemic, and now that ports are re-opening following months of inactivity, what the plans are to boost the trade between our two countries.
Commercial flights between Malta and Italy resumed earlier this month, while Italy has recently imposed a mandatory swabbing on all returning passengers. And, while it is vital for Malta that tourism with Italy resumes to pre-covid levels, both sides have recently shut down night clubs and discos in response to rising cases.
Tune in this afternoon at 4pm to watch the full interview.
