Smiro Qualitas, a pharmaceutical-sector startup, has inaugurated its new facility at the Kordin Business Incubation Centre (KBIC).

The inauguration was attended by Minister for the Economy, Enterprise and Strategic Projects, Silvio Schembri, and Malta Enterprise CEO George Gregory.

Speaking at the event, Minister Schembri stressed that economic performance remains tied to human capital and the resilience of local industry. He noted that recent indicators – including this year’s EY Malta attractiveness survey and the Financial Times’ Greenfield FDI Performance Index – continued to show Malta performing strongly in competitiveness and investment attraction.

Malta Enterprise CEO George Gregory framed the launch as part of the agency’s long-term push to support higher-value industries.

Smiro Qualitas Director Robert Smith highlighted the operational relevance of establishing a base in Malta, particularly for clients working across multiple jurisdictions. “The opening of our office in Malta provides our clients with a unique base from which to conduct clinical trials in Malta, the European Union, and the United Kingdom, for the benefit of patients,” he said.
