The Maltese division of Ukrainian SkyUp Airlines has signed a wet-lease partnership with Bulgarian airline Fly2Sky for an ACMI contract for two Airbus A320 aircraft.

The lease sees that SkyUp will have in its possession aircraft, crew, maintenance, and insurance (ACMI) for two aircraft: LZ-MDI and LZ-FSD. The aircraft are reported to have state of the art amenities and refurbished interior seating.

The partnership will be starting from 5th April and running through 5th November 2024 and will be operating from Egypt.

Aleksandrs Gusevs, Fly2Sky Chief Commercial Officer says that this partnership will enhance the airline’s operational capabilities and “further extend [its] reach across key markets.”

Through this partnership, SkyUp Airlines gains strategic positioning connecting passengers from the Egyptian market to the rest of the European Union in addition to Northern African regions.

What is SkyUp Airlines MT?

Last year, the Ukrainian low-cost SkyUp Airlines announced the setting up of a Maltese division with the aim of widening its European presence.

It was founded as an independent entity in Malta to navigate through airspace limitations prompted by the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

At the time, Co-Owner Oleksandr Alba said that SkyUp is the first to do so in the history of Ukrainian aviation.

“For us, this means opening new opportunities and scaling the business. But our ambitious goal is to show the whole world that Ukrainian brands can compete with European ones, and in the long run, be recognised as the best in Europe and the world thanks to a special service,” he continued.
