Following more than two years with FinanceMalta as Senior Manager for Business Development, George Micallef has announced that he is stepping away from the organisation to embark on what he describes as a planned professional sabbatical.

Announcing his departure on social media, Mr Micallef reflected on his time at FinanceMalta, describing it as "an incredible two-year journey" that brought him adventures, unforgettable experiences, lifelong friendships and significant professional growth.

FinanceMalta also paid tribute to Mr Micallef, highlighting both his professional contribution and his impact on colleagues. The organisation noted that during his tenure, Mr Micallef represented FinanceMalta at more than 30 international events spanning destinations from the United States to the Middle East, helping to promote Malta's financial services sector on the global stage.

"But beyond the excellent work, George had a rare gift for lifting the room," FinanceMalta said. "He made us laugh, kept spirits up when things got tough, and made this a better place to come to every day. That kind of presence is hard to replace and impossible to forget."

The organisation thanked him for his contribution, adding: "We're better for having worked alongside you, and we wish you nothing but the best in what comes next."

Mr Micallef has since confirmed that he is taking a professional sabbatical, describing it as "a planned period dedicated to recharging, continuous learning, broadening perspectives, and preparing for the next professional opportunity."

During this time, he said he intends to focus on personal growth, explore emerging trends and strengthen his skills in preparation for the next stage of his career.
