Renault Group has been awarded the ‘Best Car Company’, ‘Best Car’, ‘Best Electric Car’ and ‘Best Value Car’ titles at the prestigious 2025/2026 Best Cars of the Year / New Car World Championships, marking another standout achievement for the multi-brand manufacturer.
The accolades follow last year’s headline win for the Renault 5 E-Tech electric as ‘Best Car of the Year’ and reinforces Renault Group’s growing momentum across all four of its brands – Renault, Dacia, Alpine, and Mobilize.
This year also saw Renault 4 crowned ‘Best Car’ and ‘Best Electric Car’, while the Dacia Bigster won the ‘Best Value Car’ gong, underlining the Group’s strength in delivering superior vehicles at compelling price points. It’s the second year in a row that Dacia has taken the ‘Best Value Car’ title, with Spring claiming the honour last year.
François Provost, CEO of Renault Group, said: “It is a great honour to receive these awards, which give us all the motivation to keep pushing to set new standards now and in the future. Being named Best Car Company is especially meaningful because it recognises the success of all four of our brands, as well as the dedication of our teams, suppliers, retailers, and customers. I’m thrilled that the judges have once again acknowledged that we are making exceptional cars across our portfolio.”
On awarding Renault Group and its products, the expert judging panel said: “At the annual New Car World Championships it is unprecedented for one multi-brand vehicle manufacturer to collect four major awards. But Renault Group has been in top form of late and somehow continues to get its designs, showroom products, quality and retail prices spot-on.
“Dacia is growing hugely in credibility. And it’s top of the range Bigster is an absolute bargain for families and others seeking a large, flexible, fuel-efficient SUV with real presence. The Renault 4 is, all things considered, superior to and more desirable than many of its more expensive EV rivals from across the globe. For this and other reasons, Renault 4 richly deserves to be crowned The New Car World Champ 2025/2026.”
Renault continues to set benchmarks in innovation, expressive design, and everyday usability. One of Europe’s electric mobility pioneers, Renault is now translating that experience into a bold new era of design, performance, and sustainability. It follows a bold ‘two-pronged’ strategic approach to electrification, offering customers a choice of bespoke, highly developed hybrid and pure electric drivetrains across a variety of model lines. As well as the multi-award- winning Renault 5, the manufacturer has also recently launched the pure electric Renault 4 together with the Symbioz SUV and flagship Rafale hybrids.
Dacia has built a strong reputation for rugged reliability and exceptional value, creating vehicles that thrive both on city streets and remote trails. The new Bigster – winner of the ‘Best Value Car’ award – embodies that spirit with its robust design, generous space, and exceptional value for money.
Alpine remains the Group’s performance jewel, combining motorsport heritage with striking engineering. Its portfolio builds on the acclaimed A110 with the Car of the Year-winning A290 and the forthcoming A390 SUV coupe, showcasing how Alpine’s competition-honed attributes of lightness and agility are just as relevant in today’s electrified world as they have always been.
Mobilize is Renault Group’s vision in action for sustainable mobility. Specialising in electric, shared, and digitally connected solutions, the brand collaborates with cities, businesses, and individuals to deliver efficient, eco-conscious transport, reshaping the future of mobility for a rapidly changing world.
The Best Cars of the Year awards are presented by the not-for-profit, unaffiliated organisation Best Cars of the Year. Winners are selected by a unique panel of independent experts that includes celebrated car designers, engineers, industry leaders, journalists, broadcasters and motorsport legends. This year’s judging panel features esteemed figures such as Mike Rutherford, Founder and Chair of the awards; Dr Andy Palmer, noted automotive industry leader; Ray Massey, seasoned motoring journalist for the Daily Mail; and design icon Shiro Nakamura. Members of the public also have a small say in the voting process.
