Bigbon Group is continuing its investment in Malta’s retail landscape with the opening of a new OYSHO store at The Point Shopping Mall in Sliema this October, forming part of the group’s wider programme to progressively upgrade and strengthen its retail network.

The new store represents more than an expansion of retail space, it reflects the evolution of the OYSHO brand and the changing expectations of today’s customer, bringing together fashion, sport, wellbeing and technology to deliver a new generation of retail experience.

OYSHO has evolved into one of the leading international brands serving an increasingly active and health-conscious community. Its collections combine technical performance with contemporary design, responding to the growing integration of sport and wellbeing into everyday lifestyles.

The new store at The Point will introduce a larger-format concept with a significantly wider product offering, covering disciplines ranging from yoga and gym training to running, tennis and padel. This broader proposition will enable customers to experience more of the OYSHO universe while positioning the store as an important destination for Malta’s growing sports and wellbeing community.

Central to the investment is the customer journey. Bigbon Group believes that the future of physical retail will increasingly depend on the successful combination of people, product, environment and technology. Digitalisation is therefore being integrated into the new store not as an addition to the experience, but as an integral part of how customers interact with it.

One of the most immediate changes customers will experience will be the introduction of self-assisted checkout technology. Designed to provide greater convenience, functionality and speed, the system creates a different checkout experience while allowing the store team to dedicate more of its time to assisting customers throughout their journey.

The OYSHO opening will mark the second rollout of this infrastructure within Bigbon Group’s retail network, following its introduction at the new Stradivarius flagship store in Sliema, which opened in April.

Bigbon Group is undertaking a progressive programme to upgrade its existing retail network, ensuring that established stores continue to evolve alongside the latest international brand concepts, technologies and customer expectations.

The October opening of OYSHO will therefore be another milestone in a longer-term development pipeline. Looking ahead, Bigbon Group is already planning its next major investment at The Point, with the development of a new Pull&Bear store scheduled to open in May 2027. The new-generation store is planned to become the largest Pull&Bear in Malta, representing another significant step in the transformation of the Group’s retail footprint.

Investment in stores and technology represents only one side of the equation Bigbon Group remains equally committed to investing in its people and strengthening the capabilities of the teams behind the customer experience. Technology can make retail faster, smarter and more convenient, but it is people who ultimately bring a brand to life.

As the retail environment becomes increasingly digital, the role of the store team is therefore evolving rather than diminishing. Greater emphasis is being placed on product knowledge, customer engagement, fashion awareness and the ability to provide customers with informed and personalised support.

This philosophy sits at the heart of Bigbon Group’s continued development.

“Our ambition is not simply to build newer stores; it is to continuously raise the standard of the experience we offer. That means investing in our retail environments, embracing technology and, most importantly, continuing to develop our people. Our teams remain the backbone of our organisation and the most important connection between our brands and our customers,” says Nick Spiteri Paris, CEO of Bigbon Group.

The opening of the new OYSHO store this October, followed by the planned Pull&Bear development in 2027, demonstrates Bigbon Group’s confidence in Malta’s retail market and its commitment to continued investment. The direction is one of continuous evolution: Better stores, stronger technology, broader product experiences and empowered teams, all working together to deliver an increasingly relevant and engaging experience for the customer.
