Prime Minister Robert Abela together with the Minister for Energy, Enterprise and Sustainable Development Miriam Dalli on Wednesday inaugurated the renovation of the Ozo Group offices in their business centre in Ħal Qormi, with an investment of €2.5 million.

In the 25 year anniversary from the company’s founding, Prime Minister Robert Abela described the event as a satisfying one that augers optimism for the future. The last few years saw Ozo Group’s significant diversification and growth, with the Group today employing 3,000 workers over eight companies in various industries.

Prime Minister Abela said that the investment is not only a strong sign of the company’s determination to grow further, but is also a strong signal of trust in the country.

“Nobody invests if they know that the investment might not bear the desired fruit. For this I want to thank many companies based in Malta that, similar to Ozo, exhibited great resilience,” said Dr Abela.

The Minister for Energy, Enterprise and Sustainable Development praised the entrepreneurial vision of Ozo Group, that gave due importance to sustainability even as it grew its operations. Among other initiatives, the company is in the process of renewing its fleet of vehicles to cars that pollute less.

“Ozo Group is one of the thousands of companies that during 2020 benefitted from the wage supplement, thanks to which it was able to hold on to its employees. At the same time they saw how to give back to the community. This is the strong sense of corporate social responsibility we encourage,’ said Minister Dalli.

Mario Muscat, chairman of Ozo Group, said that the event was not only a celebration of a new investment, but also a celebration of the humble beginnings that will lead to the next chapter. “25 years after my dream became a reality, I see it strengthening and spreading wealth. This would not have been possible without the help of our employees and other individuals who worked so that my dream from years ago bears fruit,” said Mr Muscat.

Chief Executive of Ozo Group Fabio Muscat said that nowadays the company provides a living and career to over 3,000 employees in various sectors, and it is therefore natural that employees’ wellbeing is considered one of the core values of the Group.

“Like every other business, the COVID-19 pandemic left an impact on u as well, but we always believed and were determined that every job should be safeguarded without any discrimination. I am proud to say that thanks to the assistance provided by Government, we not only managed to achieve this goal, but during these unprecedented times we managed to provide over 350,000 hours of free service to various local councils and state entities,” said Mr Muscat.
