President of Malta, George Vella, together with his wife visited manufacturing company ST Microelectronics on the occasion of the company’s 40th anniversary in Malta.
In a speech for the occasion, President Vella explained how the strength of the Maltese manufacturing sector was a crucial factor that helped the Maltese economy become more resilient and diversified.
He noted the contribution made by the company’s investors to the safeguarding of the country’s environment. The President urged the same company to continue building on a strategy that respects the Maltese territory by ensuring that its operations have minimal impact on the environment.
In addition, President Vella noted how the same company makes highly valuable contributions in the training and education sectors.
On the same occasion, the President expressed his appreciation to five workers rewarded for their loyalty over the many years they have worked in the same company, and explained how, through their values, they should set an example for other workers, particularly youths.
ST Microelectronics is a global chip-making company with established roots in Malta. Overall, it is made up of 46,000 creators and makers of semiconductor technologies, devices and solutions.
