Leader of the Opposition and of the Nationalist Party Alex Borg has officially announced the appointment of his Shadow Cabinet.
This shadow cabinet is made up of 28 Shadow Ministers and 8 Spokespersons from among the Parliamentary Group elected in the last general election.
“The group is made up of Members of Parliament who bring with them a blend of experience and fresh energy, and is structured in a way that enables the PN to present itself as an alternative government ready to lead our country towards a better future,” the party said in a statement.
Among the MPs, Former PN Leader Adrian Delia retains his position as Shadow Minister for Finance. Former Leader Bernard Grech has been appointed Deputy Speaker and Shadow Minister for European Funds, Social Dialogue and Consumer Protection. Alex Perici Calascione, the party’s deputy leader, will also be Shadow Minister for Tourism.
PN MP Darren Carabott, who in the previous legislature was Shadow Minister for Home Affairs, now takes on the role of Shadow Minister for the Economy, Technology and Strategic Projects. Newly elected MP Conrad Borg Manché has been appointed Shadow Minister for Home Affairs and Security.
Ivan Castillo has been appointed the party’s Whip, and will also serve as Shadow Minister for Social Mobility. Frank Tabone was selected as the PN's Shadow Minister for Gozo.
In comments after announcing the shadow cabinet, the Leader of the Opposition said that he was able to form it because he has a very strong Parliamentary Group.
