In a notable move for Malta’s digital healthcare sector, Plex Medical has announced its merger with DigiMed, uniting two companies to make digital health more accessible.
The merger brings together Plex Medical’s advanced digital diagnostics platform and remote monitoring tools with DigiMed’s rapidly emerging telemedicine offering. This integration is set to enhance DigiMed’s capabilities, from secure online consultations and e-prescriptions to family health management, now bolstered by Plex’s data analytics and digital twin technology.
Announcing this new chapter is Adrian Attard Trevisan, who after 15 years in digital health has transitioned from CEO of Plex Medical to Chief Technology Officer at DigiMed.
In his new capacity, he will lead the technological vision of the merged company, ensuring that innovation remains at the heart of DigiMed’s services.
“I’ve never been more excited about this new chapter,” Dr Attard Trevisan said on LinkedIn.
He also expressed gratitude to Saint James Hospital and its leadership, particularly Jean Claude Muscat, for supporting Plex Medical from the very beginning, as well as to the legal, financial and technical advisors who guided the process.
Special thanks were also extended to the DigiMed board and shareholders for their welcome and trust.
Digimed is a joint venture between leading private hospital operator Saint James and Laferla Holdings, the owner of the Laferla insurance group.
Plex Medical uses technology and wearables to integrate health data, personalise care, and improve patient outcomes, while DigiMed empowers people to carry their medical records and prescriptions on their devices, book appointments with registered doctors and access e-prescriptions.
