On Sunday, Pizza Hut permanently closed its first ever outlet, in St George’s, Road, St Julian's.

The St Julian's outlet opened its doors in 1993 and introduced the public to the pizza brand for the first time. At the time, the outlet “was an immediate hit with the locals, with long queues outside, waiting to be seated.”

“While it’s time to say goodbye to the place where it all began, we’re super excited about what’s cooking up next as we’re gearing up for an exciting relocation to Bay Street Shopping Complex in the coming weeks,” Pizza Hut explained.

In September 2023, the brand announced the closure of its popular Sliema outlet in Bisazza Street, 30 years after it had opened. Today it still marks its presence in Campus Hub Msida, in Valletta, in St Paul’s Bay and in Pavi Supermarket in Qormi.

It also had an outlet in Fgura from 1997 to 2006.

The local franchisee for the US-headquartered franchise is Food Chain Limited, the company that also manages Burger King, KFX and Boost. It also forms part of Farsons Group.
