JUEL Group may be a relatively recent name in Malta’s business landscape, but the story behind it runs much deeper. Established in 2022 as a holding company, it brings together a growing portfolio across property development, rentals, and a steady expansion into lifestyle-driven hospitality.

At the centre of it all is founder Adrian Muscat, whose journey reflects a mix of hands-on experience, family influence, and long-term vision. The name JUEL itself is a personal one, inspired by his daughters, Julia and Elisa and one he says is a reminder that the business is about building something lasting.

“I wanted the name to carry meaning,” Mr Muscat says. “It’s not just a brand name that sounds good, but something that reflects what we are building for the future.”

From a young age, Mr Muscat was immersed in the family business, learning the trade from the ground up. Much of that foundation came from his father, George Muscat, whose journey and entrepreneurial legacy left a lasting imprint. Through his family’s involvement in major ventures such as Bay Street, be.Hotel, and the Hyatt Regency, Mr Muscat was exposed early on to the realities of building and managing successful businesses.

“My father showed me what hard work really means,” he reflects. “He built everything from very little, and the values he lived by, humility, integrity, consistency, and thinking long-term, have stayed with me. I’ve always believed that respect is earned through your actions, through how you treat people and the level of service you deliver. It’s important to stay true to who you are, rather than simply following trends. That mindset has shaped how I make decisions today, and it’s the legacy I want to continue, and hopefully pass on to my own children.”

JUEL’s story really began over two decades ago. “The roots of this go back to 2001, when we started GAP Homes,” he explains. What began as a property consultancy quickly evolved into project management and full-scale development, laying the groundwork for what would follow.

As a founding member and director of GAP Group, Mr Muscat played a central role in delivering more than 4,500 residential units across Malta, with projects spanning Qawra, St Julian’s, Marsascala and beyond. Throughout this period, he was closely involved in every stage of development, from construction to finishing, ensuring a consistent standard of quality and attention to detail across each project. This hands-on approach helped shape a philosophy centred on practicality, longevity, and refined execution, with a strong emphasis on delivering homes that meet the expectations of modern living.

“We’ve always been focused on creating spaces that people genuinely want to live in,” Mr Muscat says. “For us, ‘better living’ means using low-maintenance, high-quality finishes, paying attention to the smallest details, and making sure the final product is delivered with care. It’s not just about how a property looks, but how it functions over time.”

Another defining moment for the Group came in 2024 with the development and opening of Hyatt Centric Malta in St. Julian’s. Introduced in 2015, Hyatt Centric was designed to offer a more tailored, simplified experience for both business and leisure travellers, with properties in some of the world’s most popular cities. Bringing this sub-brand to Malta marked a natural next step for JUEL Group, building on established foundations while expanding its presence within the international hospitality landscape.

“Hospitality was always something we wanted to explore more deeply,” he says. “At the end of the day, it’s still about creating spaces for people, just in a different context. The same thinking applies with a focus on quality, understanding how people travel and experience a destination, and building something that leaves a lasting impression.”

Located in the heart of St Julian’s, the Hyatt Centric hotel places guests within walking distance of key lifestyle hotspots, while remaining just moments away from the beach at St George’s Bay. Since opening in November 2024, the hotel has received strong feedback, driven by its distinctive identity as a stylish, contemporary lifestyle hotel that brings the local story to life through its design and guest experience. This early success has already been recognised through several Hyatt awards, including the Ramp Up Award, Enrollment Success Rates, and Loyalty Room Night Penetration Award. Behind this performance is a clear focus on building the right team, with JUEL continuing to invest in key roles to strengthen operations. As Mr Muscat notes, the success of the hotel ultimately depends on having talented people who can consistently deliver a high-quality experience.

Today, JUEL Group operates as a structured and forward-looking organisation, balancing growth with strong governance and a clear sense of direction. Yet, despite its expansion, the business remains grounded in the values it was built on. “We’ve grown, but the principles haven’t changed,” Mr Muscat notes. “It’s still about doing things properly, thinking long-term, and building something you can be proud of.”

Looking ahead, the focus is on steady, sustainable growth across both real estate and hospitality. Among the key projects currently underway is The Elm in St Julian’s. Designed with exceptional finishes and advanced technologies, including intelligent lighting, integrated climate control, and energy-efficient heating systems, the project places a strong emphasis on achieving high EPC ratings while delivering a refined living experience. It also marks a step towards setting new standards on the island, supported by close collaboration with trusted trades and specialists to ensure every detail meets the level of quality JUEL is known for.

At the same time, the Group is expanding its footprint across the South, Central, and North of Malta, allowing it to better respond to growing demand and reach a wider base of clients.

With plans to further grow its hospitality presence and continue developing under the JUEL brand, the Group remains focused on building for the long term. As Mr Muscat explains, “When I think about where it all started and the vision my father had, it’s incredibly rewarding to see how far we’ve come. But for me, it’s just as important to keep pushing forward and continue growing.”
