Minister within the Office of the Prime Minister Carmelo Abela appointed Pablo Micallef as a director in the Board of the Public Broadcasting Services, following the resignation of Oliver Scicluna as a director from the same board due to his co-option as a member of Parliament. Mr Scicluna was also previously Commissioner for the Rights of Persons with Disability.

Minister Abela thanked Mr Scicluna for his work in the past months and congratulated Mr Micallef for the good work to the benefit of PBS as a national broadcaster to ensure better quality, efficiency, and professionality.

About Pablo Micallef

Mr Micallef was a Maltese television presenter through his position as co-host of the 2014 TVAM, Television Malta’s breakfast show.

He has taken early TV prime time by storm with a leading daily game show programme Deal or No Deal on TVM. He also hosted weekly documentary X’Qala Bahar, exploring the many fascinations that the Mediterranean sea has to offer.

He has a Masters degree in Mass Communication from the University of Leicester and a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Malta. He also studied at New York University.

Mr Micallef also worked as a TV producer for Malta’s production house, Where’s Everybody.

More recently, he was a spokesperson for the permanent representation of Malta to the EU, between 2015 and 2017, the director of Communications and the Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology, and currently is engaged Manager for the Media Engagement and Corporate Image for the Water Services Corporation.
