A dress worn by Mary Spiteri during one of Malta’s most memorable Eurovision appearances is currently up for auction, with bidding already reaching €850 at the time of writing.

The gown, which Ms Spiteri wore during her performance at the Eurovision Song Contest 1992, has been donated to the Malta Community Chest Fund, with all proceeds set to support individuals and families in need across Malta and Gozo.

Bidding for the item opened on 11th May and will remain active until 29th May, with increments set at €50.

Malta had secured third place in the 1992 contest, making the performance one of the country’s strongest Eurovision results.

According to the auction listing, the dress was designed in Milan, with Ms Spiteri herself personally contributing to elements of its design, making it “not only a stage costume, but a deeply personal artistic creation tied to one of Malta’s most memorable Eurovision moments.”

The description highlights the gown’s “beautifully draped magenta and fuchsia bodice with a sweetheart neckline and gathered pleating across the bust”, paired with a cropped embellished over-garment decorated with pink sequins, beadwork, white appliqué detailing, and intricate paisley-inspired motifs.

The listing describes the piece as “more than a dress”, calling it “a tangible piece of Eurovision history, a symbol of national pride, artistry, and performance.”
