The founder of Neriku Catering, Neriku Zammit, has passed away.

In a post on the Neriku Catering Facebook Page, the Zammit family announced the passing away of Mr Zammit.

The family said he was “a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather”.

“Your memories and example will live with us forever.”

Mr Zammit had a passion for creating delicious products, and had a reputation for his genuine and wholesome food.

He started out in 1969 by selling sfineġ and chips in Valletta, before investing in the first commercial ravioli machine on the islands, which allowed him to mass produce, package and distribute frozen goods throughout Malata and Gozo.

Eventually, the business was passed on to his sons Charles and Raymond, who focused on food manufacturing, supplying hotels, canteens and supermarkets with a variety of frozen food products and sweets.

The growth of the company eventually led to a relocation to a new 1000sqm manufacturing site in Corradino Industrial Estate.
