Maltese endurance swimmer Neil Agius has received global recognition for his extraordinary achievements in open water swimming. The World Open Water Swimming Association (WOWSA) has nominated Mr Agius for two of its most prestigious awards: Performance of the Year and Man of the Year.
This recognition follows Mr Agius’s record-breaking swim in September, where he completed the longest unassisted, current-neutral ocean swim, an astonishing 142.3 kilometers in 60 hours, 35 minutes, and 4 seconds.
WOWSA is the leading authority on open water swimming, celebrating exceptional endurance athletes worldwide. A nomination from this organisation not only validates the physical and mental challenges of a swim but also highlights its significance on a global scale. Mr Agius’s achievement has placed Malta firmly on the map of elite endurance swimming.
