Despite global turbulence in the automotive industry, the Mizzi Organisation is pushing ahead in 2025 with steady results across its sprawling portfolio, thanks largely to the muscle of its beverage, hospitality, and property divisions.

The group’s car business, once a golden goose, isn’t immune to the industry’s ongoing supply chain pressures and shifting market dynamics. But its latest interim report suggests the division, operating through Continental Cars, Muscats Motors, Nissan Motor Sales and Industrial Motors Ltd, remains “well positioned to embrace shifts in the fast-changing conditions of the market.”

The beverage arm of the group, General Soft Drinks – the local bottler of Coca-Cola, and importer and distributor of a range of other drinks – continues to deliver robust revenues, buoyed by a post-pandemic tourism surge and operational efficiencies.

The hospitality division, operator of the Waterfront Hotel in Sliema, is also gaining ground, having expanded its operations with the full acquisition of the Institute of English Language Studies.

Meanwhile, the retail arm, Arkadia, aims to sustain revenue, enhance operations, while taking advantage of the growth in tourism, boosting commercial footfall.

Mizzi Organisation’s contracting business, involved in mechanical and electrical contracting, is reportedly lined up with a solid project pipeline, and on the real estate front, full occupancy in key commercial properties, along with the delivery of new residential units, is giving the group an added layer of income stability.

Operational costs and capital expenditure are expected to rise over the coming months, and the group says liquidity is “projected to tighten” as investment activity continues, although “overall solvency and gearing metrics remain sound.”
