A low-emission rescue and fire truck has just been delivered to Malta International Airport, which has invested about €2.9 million to modernise its fire-fighting fleet.
The airport has ordered another two of the Rosenbauer Panther 8x8 fire-fighting vehicles, which are scheduled to join the fleet next year.
MIA said the modern design and optimised features of the Panther fire trucks, including enhanced extinguishing power and inbuilt thermal imaging technology for low-visibility conditions, will enable the rescue and fire-fighting team to respond faster and more efficiently to emergency situations occurring in different scenarios.
A training programme has been devised aimed at familiarising the team with the functional features of the Panther trucks, among them a high-reach extendable turret that makes the vehicle ideal for high-precision response to emergencies at height.
The investment further underscores the airport’s strong commitment to safety and security, MIA said.
