During a visit by the Minister for Energy, Enterprise and Sustainable Development Miriam Dalli, manufacturing company Methode Electronics announced it is investing “in innovation to gear up to meet the demands brought about by the growth of the market for electric vehicles and e-bikes”.

Neither Methode nor a Government statement announcing Minister Dalli’s visit provided further details of what the investment entails, however WhosWho.mt has reached out to the company for further details.

Methode Electronics, one of Malta’s largest manufacturing companies was also on the receiving end of critical government-backed financial support administered by the Malta Enterprise, which was essential during the pandemic. This enabled the company to expand its operations and diversify the suite of products to meet the demands of the evolving global market.

Following a visit by Minister Dalli, Chief Operating Officer of Methode Electronics Inc Dr Khoury explained that thanks to the assistance of the Government and Malta Enterprise, challenges brought by the pandemic were mitigated.

“The path Methode is undertaking is yet another example of the kind of investment that as a country want to enable in the future. This includes the evolution of Malta-based manufacturing companies into modern, innovative and more resilient companies which provide better added-value output to their clients and higher-quality employment opportunities for our workers”, stated Minister Miriam Dalli.

The Minister also explained that the manufacturing sector is critical for the economic development of our country, and the Maltese government is continuously incentivising this sector to enable its growth and future resilience. “Methode Electronics reflects our commitment to the development of innovative sectors. Methode continues to invest in innovative client solutions whilst simultaneously increasing the value of its product portfolio to support and leverage on the growth of key sectors in a greener and more sustainable global economy”, continued the minister.

Dr Khoury also said that “it was a great pleasure having the Minister here on our campus this morning. We would like to thank the Government for the outstanding support given during these difficult times.

“Malta continues to play an important role in Methode’s global strategy. Methode Electronics Europe is well-positioned in the automotive market and more importantly, the electrification segment, we are very active in the e-bike/pedelec space with Methode’s magnetoelastic sensors which were launched in Malta a few years ago, and also look forward to introducing other unique products in the medical segment, which will continue to grow the business in Europe”.

Dr Khoury concluded by saying that the discussions with the Government and Minister Dalli about their future plans will continue and he thanked the minister for her involvement and commitment to the industrial sector.
