Young Maltese striker Haley Bugeja has signed a four year contract with Italian giants Inter, extending her time with the club until 2029.

“FC Internazionale Milano announces that they have reached an agreement on the contract extension of Haley Bugeja,” the Italian club said in a statement.

“The striker, class 2004, will wear the Blue and Black shirt until June 30th, 2029.”

After her start at Mġarr United, Ms Bugeja was discovered by Italian Serie A Femminile side Sassuol in 2020, scoring 15 goals.

After a brief stint at Orland Pride, the football returned to Italian Serie A with Inter, where she made 32 appearances and scored four goals.

Ms Bugeja has played over 40 matches for the Malta national team, scoring 24 goals to date, just two away from matching Dorianne Theuma’s all-time scoring record of 26 goals for the women’s national team.
