GO Business has recently launched a series of B2B events bringing industry leaders together to discuss developments in the fast-evolving technology sector.

The GO Business VIP Forum provides a space where key people, such as CEOs, CTOs and CIOs, from different industries can discuss pressing technological issues impacting local businesses.

Starting in the last quarter of 2021, the three events organised so far have been received well by economic stakeholders. Each event features a presentation on a particular topic, typically highlighting GO’s efforts to maintain Malta’s position at the forefront of the digital revolution.

The first event, held in October, focused on cyber security, with a presentation by Kenneth Ciangura, from GO’s Information Security team. Mr Ciangura spoke to select key clients about the many threats presented by the increasingly digital ways companies conduct business, explaining the evolving risks businesses are faced with daily.

Matthew Yeomans, a representative of the Computer Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT Malta), was also present, speaking in detail about the agency’s work. This includes sharing knowledge about potential threats and coordinating the response to information security incidents in collaboration with European and international communities.

The second event was held in March, and put the spotlight on international connectivity and the PEACE project. During this event, Patrick Gatt, Senior Manager of GO’s Wholesale and International Services team, shared with attendees his insight into why having resilient international connectivity is key, and how GO continues to invest in technology to support its clients.

The Pakistan East Africa Connecting Europe (PEACE) project consists of a submarine cable emulating the old silk route, connecting countries across the globe on its way from Asia to France. GO’s 55km stretch of cable is part of its National Connectivity Project, linking Malta to the main 3214km Mediterranean stretch between the south of France and Egypt, via Cyprus.

GO’s €25 million investment into a third submarine cable makes it the first Maltese telecoms operator to have an additional redundancy for connectivity outside of Italy.

The most recent event in the GO Business VIP Forum series, held in May, saw GO Business Development Manager Victor Zammit give guests an overview of GO's Internet of Things (IoT) strategy.

Its efforts in the space have seen it recently launch a fully fledged asset tracking solution which relies on its highly dependable network and secure IoT platform, offering the highest level of service and assurance that GO’s business clients are accustomed to.

The company also took the opportunity to introduce SENS Innovation, a company the telecommunications giant recently invested in. SENS CEO Ing. Michael Bonello gave the audience a look into the solutions SENS provides, and how these can help organisations operate in a more sustainable manner, while reducing costs.

The warm reception to the first events in the GO Business VIP Forum series looks set to continue, as the company steps up its efforts to better understand the needs of the industries it serves.

This understanding allows GO Business to support its clients in the best way possible, no matter what challenges they may be facing.
