The Malta Maritime Forum has announced the appointment of Kevin J. Borg as its new Chief Executive Officer with effect from 1st January 2021. Mr Borg succeeds Michael Callus who shall retain his seat on the Board of the Malta Maritime Forum.

An experienced professional with almost 25 years of experience in leadership of the business community in Malta, Mr Borg is well known to the maritime sector. Having occupied the position of Director General of The Malta Chamber of Commerce until 2020, he has already served the maritime community, particularly those engaged in shipping, yachting, bunkering, ship repair, and registration.

Besides being an Economics graduate, Mr Borg brings with him to the Malta Maritime Forum a wealth of knowledge, experience, and contacts accumulated so far in his career.

Upon his appointment, Kevin J. Borg commented “The maritime industry has always intrigued me and the opportunity to work directly in this field was one I sought to seize with utmost pleasure and optimism. In light of Malta’s geographic characteristics, the importance of the maritime industry is disproportionately large, whilst the Islands have always risen to the occasion to become a major player at a global level in this field.

“I look forward to serving the industry and its stakeholder to the best of my abilities in this role. This position, albeit on a part-time basis, will certainly enrich my knowledge and profile further particularly as it entails serving a Chairman and Board of the highest calibre, profile and experience.”
