Malta International Airport (MIA) welcomed 1,072,390 passengers in August, marking another strong month for the country’s air travel hub.

Operations peaked on the eve of the Santa Maria public holiday, with 39,082 passenger movements recorded on 14th August, making it the busiest day of the month.

The airport also registered 6,418 aircraft movements, representing a 5.1 per cent increase year-on-year, while the seat load factor climbed by 0.5 percentage points to 91.6 per cent. This was the highest monthly seat occupancy rate achieved so far in 2025.

Italy retained its position at the top of MIA’s market leaderboard, accounting for 21.5 per cent of total movements. The United Kingdom followed closely with 20.5 per cent, ahead of Germany (8.3 per cent), France (7.5 per cent) and Poland (6.9 per cent).
