Malta-based Part 21 Design International has been fully acquired by Irish aviation company Shannon Technical Services (STS).
Part 21 Design International is a company that specialises in the creation and supply of paint and decals as well as development of minor changes and repairs to aircraft. It has an office in Gudja. Additionally, it is also affiliated with Part M Aviation, an aircraft redelivery support provider based in Ireland.
Established in 2019, STS specialises in managing aircraft transitions, redeliveries, engine management and materials and logistics management for global aircraft lessors and airlines.
The acquisition, announced earlier this month, represents a “significant and strategic” move for STS in order to enhance the services it already provides.
Ben Whelan, CEO at STS, will now also occupy the same role for Part 21 Design International.

STS stated that it has “ambitious growth plans” for the Malta-based company, particularly expanding its operations in both Malta and Shannon (Ireland).
“We will add an additional 15-20 positions in the first year and 20-25 positions in the second year. We see significant market opportunities for STS and Part 21 especially given the current competitor landscape,” it continued.
While a fee was left undisclosed, STS said that it is investing “up to €100,000” in graphics equipment that is being set up in Malta.
It is also establishing a Production Organisation Approval (POA) in Shannon and/or Malta. A POA would allow STS to produce aircraft components and systems.
The Irish company expressed gratitude to a number of individuals and organisations for assisting STS in the acquisition, and also acknowledged the “professionalism, care and conduct” of the seller Kevin Craven and his legal advisors Fenech & Fenech Advocates. “Thank you very much to Mick Malone and Chantel Spiteri of Part 21 Design International. Onward and upwards!” it continued.
