MAC Cosmetics on Wednesday announced the permanent closure of its Valletta store on Zachary Street.
Without delving into why the highly popular cosmetics retailer said despite the closure, customers can expect an announcement for “new locations”, implying more than one, in 2022.

Mail shot sent out by MAC to registered customers
The announcement was made via a mail-shot to its customers.
Currently, customers can continue shopping in-store at MAC in Tigne street, Sliema.
The retailer first opened its doors in Malta via two Sliema outlets back in 2015, to much fanfare. It had then opened the Zachary store, which it dubbed as its flagship Malta outlet, in 2017.
The cosmetics company made a name for itself through its offering which has been championed and loved by professional make-up artists, so-called influencers and celebrities around the world.
The brand is sold in over 100 countries and enjoys a strong presence in the global fashion and beauty industry.
It was brought to Malta following an agreement with United Department Stores Limited, a subsidiary of United Group of Companies. The Group is involved in car dealerships, car rental and leasing, retail, real estate, and food & beverage.
Under its retail units, United Group represents Oasis, MAC Cosmetics and other renowned brands. It once represented Debenhams, but earlier this year had to close all outlets after the parent company folded, leaving the franchisee without access to new stock.
