Luke Chetcuti, CEO of Hugo’s Group Malta, has announced the inauguration of his new Riva yacht, named in tribute to his late father, Hugo Chetcuti.
Sharing the news on Instagram in late June, Mr Chetcuti described the moment as unforgettable. “Yesterday was a day I’ll never forget, the inauguration of my new Riva yacht, surrounded by my kids, creating a memory that will live with us forever,” he wrote.
He continued, “moments like these are more than just milestones; they are reminders of how far we’ve come, the sacrifices, the hard work, and the blessings along the way. I feel deeply grateful and blessed for everything life has given me. And most of all, I want to thank my father, who I know has been guiding me from above these past seven years. Your strength, values, and lessons are forever a part of me.”
The yacht has been named ‘H66’ in honour of his father. In his post, Mr Chetcuti explained, “This yacht carries your legacy – I named her H66 in your honour. Your spirit is with us on every wave.”
He also shared a vlog from the day, revealing that the yacht is a Riva 76’ Perseo Super, a model that took 10 months to build.
In the video, Mr Chetcuti is seen becoming emotional during the inauguration, stating, “I’m tearing up as you can see. It’s a very beautiful moment. Very beautiful experience, and I’m happy to be doing it with my kids and soon we’re going to have the most amazing summer of our lives.”
The Riva 76’ Perseo Super measures approximately 23 metres in length with a beam of 5.75 metres. The model is known for its distinctive hull glazing, stainless steel detailing, and sleek design. It is equipped with two MAN V12 engines, allowing it to reach a maximum speed of up to 37 knots, depending on the engine configuration.
The name ‘H66’ refers to Mr Chetcuti’s father, Hugo, with ‘H’ standing for his name and ‘66’ potentially denoting his birth year, 1966.
Hugo Chetcuti passed away in July 2018 at the age of 52, six days after being attacked outside one of his Paceville establishments.
