Little Greens – the compact convenience shop concept by Greens supermarket – is set to arrive in Paola’s Main Street Complex in late 2026.

Little Greens will operate a 400sqm ground level outlet along with a café at the entrance of the building, according to a company announcement released by Main Street Complex.

It will also lease 160sqm of underground space for storage.

Refurbishment works on the selected areas are expected to begin in April 2026, on the expiry of leases of the retail units currently occupying the areas, with a view to being completed and open to the public by late 2026.

The announcement of a new major tenant for the Main Street Complex comes after the company explored alternative uses for the building.

In a company announcement in late 2024, the Board of Directors noted that trading activity at the complex had generally subsided, attributing the decline to increased competition in the retail shopping market as new malls like Mercury’s Shopping District and the Shoreline Mall opened for business.

In the latest update, released on Tuesday (yesterday), Main Street Complex said the Board concluded that “retaining the current use as a mixed commercial building incorporating retail, services, catering and entertainment, while improving the offering to bring this in line with current market requirements, would prove to be the optimal way forward for the company and its shareholders.”

To that end, the company said that alongside the works on the Little Greens outlet, it would proceed with a “complete renovation” of the public areas of the complex, “aimed at providing the community with easy access to a refreshed retail experience which embodies the vision of the company.”

The Board added that “remains optimistic about the prospects of Paola continuing to serve as an important and attractive commercial and residential hub in the south of Malta.”
