Kinemastik has announced that its International Short Film Festival will not be held this summer, marking a break from its usual July schedule.

In a statement shared on social media, the organisers said there were "several reasons" behind the decision, "most of them private, therefore complicated," adding that they had "tried as hard as we could to make it work, until it was time to let it go gently."

The organisation said it is now working to schedule the festival screenings for November, with further details expected in due course.

Kinemastik is a Malta-based cultural NGO that runs a year-round programme of film screenings, concerts, exhibitions, workshops and talks. Its International Short Film Festival, now in its 18th year, is traditionally held over three days in July at The Garden of Rest overlooking Marsamxett Harbour and showcases independent filmmaking from Malta and abroad. It is supported by Arts Council Malta through its Investment in Cultural Organisations grant.
