Certified Public Accountant Jackie Briffa has been appointed Board Director at MIDI plc following the company’s 12th Annual General Meeting on Thursday 16th June.

Ms Briffa joined Manduca, Mercieca & Co (now Deloitte Malta) in 1989, working on various high profile audit assignments including Bank of Valletta plc and Merrill Lynch Bank London.

During her time at Deloitte, she occupied several roles, engaging in indirect tax advisory, as well as corporate and financial advisory services.

She also led Deloitte’s regulatory and compliance function and served as the firm’s Compliance Director and Money Laundering Reporting Officer between 2003 and 2005.

Ms Briffa was admitted to the Malta Institute of Taxation as an Associate Member in 1995, as well as Associate Member of the Malta Institute of Financial Services Practitioners and Fellow Member of the Malta Institute of Accountants (MIA) in 2000.

During 2004 and 2005, she served as Member of the Anti-Money Laundering Ad Hoc Committee of the MIA.

She joined Alf. Mizzi & Sons Group in 2005 and currently occupies the position of Chief Administrative Officer and Executive Director of the holding company, Alf. Mizzi & Sons Ltd.

Ms Briffa also served as Alf Mizzi & Sons Group Secretary until 2014, and is now a member of the Group’s Audit Committee and also the Treasury Committee.

Additionally, she also serves as Non-Executive Director on the Group’s board and related companies.

Set up in 1992, MIDI plc is a property development company that has “spearheaded” the revitalisation of Manoel Island and Tigné Point, with these being Malta’s “most ambitious” property regeneration projects.
