JA Malta hosted its 36th edition of it annual Finals and Awards Night on 24th May 2025, celebrating the entrepreneurial achievements of over 250 students from 12 educational institutions across Malta.

Held at the Sir Temi Zammit Hall at the University of Malta, the event brought together some of the country’s brightest young minds.

The JA Malta NGO, part of the global JA Worldwide network, equips youth with hands-on skills in entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and work readiness. JA Worldwide was recently nominated for the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize and plays an important role in preparing youth for the realities of the modern workforce through experiential learning in entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and employability.

The spotlight of the evening shone on two standout teams: Simplex, from St. Aloysius College Sixth Form, which won the Company of the Year title, and MediMind, from Saint Martin’s Institute of Higher Education (SMI), which won StartUp of the Year. They were evaluated by a panel of 15 judges.

Simplex has developed an eco-friendly pill-popper made from off-cut wood, designed to help the elderly and people with conditions like Parkinson’s open blister packs more easily. MediMind is tackling medication non-adherence among Europe’s ageing population with a smart, integrated system that promotes independence, reduces hospital visits, and supports EU goals for health and sustainable communities.

Both groups will represent Malta at #Gen_E, Europe’s largest entrepreneurship festival, to be held in Athens, Greece, this July, competing against 43 other countries.

The two winners will also benefit from a one-year membership with The Malta Chamber and consultancy services from Bajada Group to refine their business propositions for the international stage.
