Family-run pizzeria Patakkus has bid farewell to its Tarxien establishment after 32 years and is set to relocate to Paola.

The restaurant opened its doors in 1994 and described itself as “the oldest pizzeria in town”.

It is currently run by Carl Cassar, son of the original founder Joseph Cassar, his mother Doris Cassar and his wife Zvetlana Pace Cassar.

Carl Cassar said the final day of the original Patakkus was a very emotional moment for him.

"My family started this business when I was just six years old, and I've spent more time within these walls than I did at home,” he said.

“It's where I grew up, made countless memories, and had the privilege of serving so many of you over the years.”

It is now set to begin a new chapter at its new premises on Tarxien Road, Paola, with an official opening date to be announced soon.
