Kasanova, an Italian homeware brand, will open its first store in Malta on Friday (tomorrow), with it set expand operations to various localities across the country.

The establishment, which will be managed by Grech & Ellul, is located in Naxxar and comes after an investment of €500,000.

Kasanova traces its roots back to 1968, when it was launched under the name F.lli Fontana Srl by Giannina Fontana, selling a number or medium and medium-low level products. Today, it has more than 700 stores, both direct and affiliated, present across Italy.

In anticipation of the launch, an event was held on 6th June, during which Prime Minister Robert Abela visited and inaugurated the establishment. He was accompanied by Kasanova Malta Director Yani Ellul and Members of Parliament Chris Agius and Romilda Zarb.

Prime Minister Abela visited Grech & Ellul’s first store and met a number of the company’s workers. The investment that the company has made over recent years was also highlighted.

Kasanova Chief Operating Officer Jukka Rovamaa explained the investment the brand has made in Malta so that it could welcome its first clients in the coming days.

Mr Ellul noted that the investment was “possible due to the strong economic position” Malta finds itself in. “Our country’s economic climate is a positive one and it is evident that the Maltese consumer is searching for various products and services that meets their goals,” he added.

He also said that the investment was a “natural decision” for the company so that it can continue expanding and reaching the local market more.

Prime Minister Abela highlighted the “perseverance and resilience” Grech & Ellul has, from its start back in the 1950s, to now attracting an international company like Kasanova to open its first store in Malta. He also thanked the workers that will be forming part of Kasanova’s team, together with the rest of the people that were part of its success.
