Hard Rock Café’s Bay Street location has closed down for good, although the Valletta Waterfront and Airport outlets are still open.

The décor and famously American-sized portions made it a favourite among many.

Reacting to the news, several musicians and fans posted tributes on Facebook.

Guitarist Kersten Graham listed some of the many “awesome and rocking” events held in the popular venue.

Meanwhile, ‘Cross Rhythm’ guitarist Nigel in-Noogie Buttigieg shared some of his favourite memories.

The Hard Rock brand is operated locally by db Group. The brand has seen a tumultuous few years in Malta as the permit for the proposed Hard Rock Hotel was revoked in court.

The Hard Rock Hotel was meant to be part of hotelier Silvio Debono’s City Centre project planned in place of the ITS site overlooking St George’s Bay in St Julian’s.
