Maltese maritime service provider GreenwaveShipping.mt was this weekend providing its bunkering services to a particularly notable vessel – the infamous cargo ship MV Ever Given – which made headlines in March by precipitating an international shipping crisis when it got stuck in the Suez Canal.
The vessel called at Malta on Sunday for bunkering on its passage to the Far East.
Discussing the stop, GreenwaveShipping.mt explained it conducted the bunkering operation as part of its role as the Malta general agent of Evergreen, which operates the ship.
The vessel which was on charter to Evergreen Lines at the time of the grounding has been off hired and is returning to the Far East where it is expected to come back on service by October.
The Ever Given was built in 2018 and has a gross tonnage of 219,079 metric tonnes and a length overall of 400 metres, explains the company.
Operations were undertaken in area 3E, which is one of the officially designated areas for bunkering offshore.
