2022 is set to be another big year for GCS Malta, the corporate service provider’s Chief Executive Officer, Christian Gravina says, with the firm driven to providing a holistic service to companies based in Malta.
“We’re constantly adding new services to our vast offering,” he says, “and we’re very excited about this. In this way, we are also enhancing our quality of service to our customers.”
Established in 2017 as an accounting and audit firm, GCS Malta has grown over the years in response to changing market conditions and to an astute recognition of the challenges and opportunities facing businesses in Malta.
“We first started GCS Malta five years ago, on 1st March 2017. With just two people back in 2017, our company has evolved over the years to, today, more than 50 employees. From day one, we offered accounting and audit services, and, since then, our services have expanded: the one-stop-shop concept was created,” the CEO explains.
Elaborating on the development of the firm, Mr Gravina points to the key milestones throughout its history, with the firm, over the past few years, widening its remit to include advisory and corporate services too. The potential this afforded was evident when the company also set up its own recruitment offshoot in 2018, the CEO attests.
“Our one-stop-shop concept offers clients a vast range of services they may require to achieve success for their business. We provide a full-fledged service with dedicated accounting, advisory, auditing, and corporate teams,” he states.
Such drive is also linked to GCS Malta’s energetic staff, who are given the right tools and work conditions to flourish at the firm. “We are a company that is different from the rest as we continue to enhance our one team concept by promoting a young, fun culture. From how we portray ourselves in public, with our marketing strategies, to company events and team building, we encourage a work-life balance that each employee enjoys coming to work every day,” Mr Gravina underscores.

This workplace culture means that “when faced with opportunities and challenges”, he stresses, “the right employees can handle the situation presented while maintaining service and consistency.” As a case in point, he notes the difficulties encountered in 2021 – a year into the pandemic – when the firm “like many other companies and industries, faced multiple challenges, such as additional incurred costs. As a result, our company had to re-evaluate the resources, fees and clientele to make decisions that enabled us to move forward to ensure the quality of our service does not alter,” the CEO explains.
The CEO sees his role as central to establishing this ecosystem which promotes collaboration within the team, and with the firm’s clients, as well as looking ahead to new opportunities. “The company depends on me for the group's strategy and planning for the years to come; I also pursue possible collaborations with the right partners to enhance our one-stop-shop concept that has GCS Malta's best interests at heart. I also enjoy developing new services and the overall management of our brand,” he states.
“Every day is a new day, and no day is the same, and this is what I enjoy the most. However, it also poses a challenge as there is no template to success, and each situation needs to be tackled with the trial and error concept in mind. Another challenge is that any decision I make will have a positive and negative effect on someone,” he asserts.
This constructive approach is at the heart of what GCS Malta strives to achieve for its clients. Indeed, Mr Gravina says that, despite recent tight international financial services regulations which can raise operating costs, as well as the instability posed by recent current affairs, “staying up-to-date allows us to turn these challenges into opportunities which will strengthen our brand.”
