Gunner Gail Diacono has “made history” as the first Maltese student to attend and successfully complete the United States Marine Corps Martial Arts Instructor Trainer Program.
By completing this program, she earned her 1st degree black belt instructor certification in Quantico, Virginia, wrote the Armed Forces of Malta on their social channel.
Ms Diacono is also currently serving in in C Company 1 Regiment of the Armed Forces of Malta.
Ms Diacono had already brought pride to Malta through her achievements in martial arts. She secured a silver medal in the Light Welterweight category at the November 2023 European Boxing Championships in Montenegro.
She was also nominated for sports woman of the year for the year 2023 by the Malta Sports Journalists Association
