Mount Carmel Band (MCB) Club in Gżira is offering first-time customers a free lunch, without any catch or commitment.

Speaking to WhosWho.mt on behalf of the club, Joe Deguara said that the club, a typical każin tal-banda, used to open its doors to customers only in the evenings.

However, knowing about the demand from customers working in the vicinity, the club recently also started offering lunch, opening 12pm to 4pm.

The club is located next to Manoel Island Bridge. “We call it Gżira’s living room because it’s a typical place to meet, mingle, play some billiards, have a drink, and also eat,” he said.

The MCB club is offering either a focaccia or its panzerotti, a savoury fried dough stuffed with tomato sauce and mozzarella, which also come in different versions.

“We also cater for vegeterians and have weekly specials. Next week, we will feature a pulled beef focaccia,” he commented.

So far, Mr Deguara said, the response has been good. He mentioned that the area is a prime location for many office workers looking for a quick, cheap lunch.

“We are putting our money where our mouth is because we are certain that clients will return for another bite,” Mr Deguara concluded.
