China House officially closed its doors on Saturday after 55 years of operations, 25 of which as a family-run business.

“From new beginnings to successful endings,” China House said in an appreciation post on Monday.

“Endless memories, customers, and staff which became friends and lots more to treasure,” it continued.

The restaurant’s management added that this was “part of our story starting with a wish our father had to open a restaurant and the trust in his children’s hard work and teamwork to keep it running in the best way possible”.

They also thanked their families for the support they received over the years, as well as their customers and staff.

“Today marks the end of an era, but the beginning of a new chapter in our lives,” China House concluded, with the restaurant’s management set to follow other business interests.

Situated in St Julian’s, the popular restaurant became a favourite of locals and tourists, with the announcement of its closing being met by several comments of people thanking the restaurant and calling it “the best Chinese restaurant in Malta”.
