On Friday (today), FIMBank announced that Modesto Luengo, a banking and risk professional, was appointed Executive Vice President of the bank.
Mr Luengo, a Spanish national, has an engineering degree in computer science and electronics from University of Oviedo and Valladolid along with an Masters in Business Administration from IESE University of Navarra, both situated in Spain.
With experience in the banking sector spanning 25 years, Mr Luengo started his career at Santander Group, where he exhibited international acumen across Latin America, the United Kingdom, Spain and Asia-Pacific.
He also contributed as a member of significant senior management committees both globally and locally and previously served on several boards of directors.
Prior to working with FIMBank, Mr Luengo helf the role of Chief Risk Officer at Finalbion, a fintech company. In 2019, he transitioned to FIMBank and served as Head of Risk and was subsequently appointed, with the approval of MFSA, as Group Chief Risk Officer on 19th May 2023.
Mr Luengo’s diverse professional journey encompasses leadership roles in risk across global banking and markets, commercial banking, investment banking and asset management, accentuating his knowledge of the banking industry.
